We resist solving problems we create. History illustrates our tendency to leave rather than solve problems. It reveals the flaw in our species highlighting our inability to alter our behavior and thought in light of changing conditions and circumstances. I remember reading a short story titled “Farmer on the Dole” by a science fiction writer that first appeared in Omni Magazine (October-November 1982). Fredrick Pohl’s career (1937-2012) spanned 75 years.
